Other gifts were also exchanged – Nehru gave a walking stick made of sandalwood to a policeman as a thanking for their services during his visit to Denmark, a stick resembling the one he owned himself. Upon his departure from Denmark, Nehru received two electronic measuring instruments for medical purposes and a map of Denmark from the seventeenth century as gifts from the Danish Prime Minister H.C. Niels Bohr as well as a visit to Vallenkilde folk school, a grocery store in Svinninge and more. He also laid a short visit to Danish Atomic Station at Riscoe, where he was welcomed by prof. On his visit Nehru gave a speech at Copenhagen City Hall, he visited the co-operative dairy Brokilde with the Danish Minister for Agriculture. Nehru was welcomed by King Frederik IX, Queen Ingrid and Crown Princess Margrethe (the present Queen Margrethe II of Denmark) at Fredensborg Palace north of Copenhagen. The visit established formal diplomatic relations between Denmark and India. In June 1957, the Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru visited Denmark as a part of his tour to Europe.
